All About Icebergs Watercolour Workshop
Icebergs are naturally captivating – they appear on our horizons and shorelines every spring and summer, breathing cold Arctic air over the land. Sculpted by wind and ocean, ever changing in shape and colour.
During this engaging afternoon, participants will get to touch iceberg ice collected from the North Atlantic, see beautiful digital archival photographs and artwork from The Rooms permanent collections, and create their very own iceberg-inspired watercolour painting using actual iceberg water.
Participants will also take home a custom postcard set of historic iceberg images from our Archives.
This is a workshop for adults. No painting experience necessary - all skill levels welcome!
Cost: $100 plus HST. 10% Discount for Rooms Members.
Included in the workshop fee:
- Iceberg-themed digital tour of archival photos and artwork
- All instruction and materials to create your own watercolour painting
- Light refreshments (tea, coffee and a cookie or muffin from The Rooms Cafe)
- Postcard set of historic images from our archives
- A voucher for free admission to The Rooms for a return visit

Winter may be here, but there’s no need to stay home! Join us at The Rooms to exercise and socialize during this colder and drearier time of year.
While strolling throughout the building and enjoying both the exhibits and the views, participants may focus on a different theme from our collection each week. After our stroll, staff will lead a brief discussion on the weekly theme, and then everyone is encouraged to stay and socialize with friends new and old.
No registration is needed. Included with the cost of admission ($7.80 plus HST for seniors), free for members.
Please wear or bring appropriate shoes.

Stroll across land and sea, and through time, to meet the peoples who have made Newfoundland and Labrador home for the past 9,000 years.
Tour is approximately 30 – 40 minutes and included in the cost of admission.
